NSHipster is something you read. It doesn’t need to know who you are for that, so it doesn’t try to find out. This page explains what information is involved when you visit nshipster.com and who handles it.

## What NSHipster Collects

Nothing. The site doesn’t set cookies, and it doesn’t use analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. There are no accounts, comment forms, or mailing lists. Pages load their scripts, styles, fonts, and images from nshipster.com, except for the few pages described below, and the site’s [Content Security Policy](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Guides/CSP) blocks scripts and analytics beacons from anywhere else.

When you follow a link to another website, the site’s [Referrer Policy](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Reference/Headers/Referrer-Policy) tells your browser not to send the address of the NSHipster page you came from.

## Your Language Preference

When you choose Swift or Objective-C in a code listing, the site saves that choice in your browser’s [local storage](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Window/localStorage) so that listings on other pages can show the same language. The preference stays on your device and is never sent anywhere. You can remove it by clearing your browser’s website data for nshipster.com.

## Hosting

[Cloudflare](https://www.cloudflare.com/) serves NSHipster. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes information about each request, such as your IP address, your browser’s user agent, and the page you asked for, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare also asks your browser to send it a report if a request to the site fails, using [Network Error Logging](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Guides/Network_Error_Logging), which helps Cloudflare find problems with its network. [Cloudflare’s privacy policy](https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/) describes how it handles this information.

## Content from Other Companies

A few articles include content from other companies. When you open one of these pages, your browser loads that content from the company’s servers, which receive your IP address and information about your browser:

- [MapKit JS](https://nshipster.com/mapkit-js) loads Apple’s MapKit JS library from `cdn.apple-mapkit.com` to show an interactive map. [Apple’s privacy policy](https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/) applies to that content.
- [NSHipster Quiz #6](https://nshipster.com/nshipster-quiz-6), [#7](https://nshipster.com/nshipster-quiz-7), and [#8](https://nshipster.com/nshipster-quiz-8) embed videos from `www.youtube-nocookie.com`, using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. [Google’s privacy policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) applies to those videos.

No other page loads content from a third party.
